1 Large tin of tuna
1/4 cup Chopped onions
1/4 cup Red chili
1/3 cup Chopped ginger
1/3 cup Garlic, finely-chopped
5 Medium-sized potato
Salt (to taste)
Black pepper (to taste)

1 cup Self-raising flour (add as needed)

Fish Cutlets

Fish Cutlets are popular on the Island of Ceylon  (now known as Sri Lanka). It is a Sinhalese dish and served at parties.

It can be eaten as an hors d’oeuvre or eaten as a main meal with rice.

  • One large tin of tuna
  • 1/4 cup of chopped onions
  • 1/4 cup of red chili
  • 1/3 cup of chopped ginger
  • 1/3 cup of finely-chopped garlic
  • 5 medium-sized potatoes
  • Salt to taste
  • Black Pepper to taste
  • 1 cup of breadcrumbs (add as needed)
  • 2 cups of self raising flour (add as needed)
  • 2 eggs beaten (add as needed)

Boil & peel potatoes

Boil the potatoes until they are soft. Remove the potato skins from the potatoes, then mix with tuna. Add rest of ingredients and mix with your fingers.

Roll into round balls & prepare to bake

Add all remaining ingredients and mix with your fingers. Roll the mix into round balls and place on your baking tray. Roll the ball in the self-raising flour and dip in the beaten eggs. Finally, roll the balls in the breadcrumbs before placing on baking tray.

Baking instructions

If baking, place on wax lined tray and place in oven for 30 mins at 375 degree heat. Bake till golden brown, then serve and eat.

Frying instructions

If frying, use low heat and deep fry till all are slightly golden brown.
