10 Papadum(optionally use tortilla chips or serve with rice)
3 Red chili
1 Red tomato(small)
2 Garlic cloave
1/4 teaspoon Ginger
1/2 teaspoon Crushed ginger
Black pepper(to taste)
Lunu Miris and Papadums
This is a popular dish on the former Island of Ceylon (now known as Sri Lanka). This dish is made purely out of onions. It’s wonderful as a bite with crackers, rice, Papadums or even tortilla chips.
- 10 Papadums (optionally, tortilla chips)
- 1 onion
- 3 red chilies
- 1 small tomato
- 2 cloves of garlic
- 1/4 teaspoon ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon of crushed ginger
- 1/2 teaspoon chili powder
- salt to taste
- pepper to taste
Blend the onion, chilies, tomato, ginger, chili powder, salt, black pepper into a coarse texture.
You can also use a mortar and pestle to blend ingredients if you don’t have a blender. Add salt/pepper as needed.
You can buy this at any supermarket in the asian section. Deep fry till slightly brown. Serve as a condiment with the lunameris.
You can use tortilla chips as well if you don’t want to use papadums.
